- Rock n Roll Garage Soul

Medi and The Medicine Show is an Anglo-French band led by Medi, a 27 year old singer /song writer /multi - instrumentalist from Nice, France. In 2001 he moved to London, playing various venues including Ronnie Scott's, The Borderline and The Marquee, where he’s been spotted by some big names in rock.
It was Dave Stewart (Eurythmics) who first brought Medi to the studios. He offered to record and produce Medi and The Medicine Show’s debut album. Eponymously entitled, it was released in France in September 2006 on the indie "Stereoblast" label, under licence from "Exclaim" records, distrbuted by Warner, and contains 12 original songs - including one co-write with Stewart, and another with Terry Hall of The Specials. The album was mixed at Olympic Studios by Cenzo Townsend (Kaiser Chiefs, Bloc Party, U2, Supergrass, The Darkness).
On stage, the band's sound is reminiscent of some of the great bands of the 70s, like The Experience and Cream. The band doesn't stick to a standard formula - on top of a powerful and tight guitar, bass and drums trio they've added sax. Often songs fly into collective improvisations, not in the spirit of tasteless self indulgence, but simply the relaxed self confidence of showmen who know how to take the audience with them. It's powerful and it makes you want to roll !
For most of 2006 and 2007, Medi and the Medicine Show have concentrated on playing live, both suporting and headlining. In France they have appeared at legendary venues like Olympia, Le Zenith and at Le Bataclan. Meanwhile the first album received excellent reviews in the French press, with Rolling Stone magazine notably describing it as "State of the art Powerpop". There has also been widespread national radio exposure, with rock station "Oui FM" racking up more than 600 air plays for the first single "Yeah Yeah", and a live session on France's most listened to national radio show "Le Fou du Roi" on "Radio France Inter".
The band are now busy recording their second album in Paris, in between gigs both in France and the UK (Glastonbury Festival to name just one!!), and among the first reviews they have received in the UK, try this: "Medi & The Medicine Show blends the finest of rock n' roll-soul-garage culmintating in hit tracks such as EXCUSE MY FRENCH".
Time for Medi & The Medicine Show to get international !
