KAYA

- Hip Hop -Dub Step
KAYA are a live 5 piece band who’s eclectic alchemy fuses grass roots Hip-Hop flavours with Dub, Reggae, Ska, Jazz, Drum & Bass to name a few. An ever evolving collective that is going to excite you with many more genres through their future sounds. KAYA was born of the need to voice an opinion, to spread a message and to be heard. Natty and Aina (vocals) initiated the idea at a time when projects they had both poured their hearts and souls into had reached a standstill. Resisting the lure of the rat race, they began to write for KAYA. With the input of Matt (guitar) and Tom Y (bass) - both accomplished producers, KAYA started to lay down tracks for what was set to be a studio album. During this time, Natty and Aina continued to gig across the UK. After a prodigal return from the BBC 1Xtra Tour, a mutual decision was made; they needed to “get back to the energy that a live band brings”. To get Matt and Tom Y in the studio, with their instruments was a natural progression. When Tom H (drums) expressed an interest, the band was keen to have his diverse skills and proficiency thrown into the melting pot. KAYA lets off soul feeding, vibe-rating, universal music for the masses. Working collectively they have created a thought provoking, tight set with endless new ideas being added to their electric blend. The band is co fronted by Natty, founder of Defcon Records and host on the Extreme Sports Channel. The show ‘Street Ball Xtreme - The Battle for Europe’ showcases the UK’s finest in the captivating art of Street Ball. Natty has supplied a lot of music for the series, and alongside Matt (Guitar) has provided music for Channel 4s Gumball Rally. Aina completes KAYA’s vocal line up. She has worked and continues to collaborate with a wide variety of artists and producers such as Miss Kelly Marie (Head Kandy), Healer Selecta/Dustaphonics (Raison D'etre) and Victor Stone (Formerly Bionic of London Posse). Aina is currently in the studio working on her debut solo album with Mark Force/Bugz in the Attic
